A dashboard that will help VZP identify ineffective treatment for palliative care patients and improve the quality of their end-of-life care.
Patients in the palliative stage may be receiving treatment that no longer helps them, but instead causes them unnecessary suffering. This poses a problem for the patient, who is burdened by treatment that can no longer help them, and makes it difficult for them to have a dignified end of life and to spend their final moments with their loved ones. At the same time, it presents an opportunity for improvement for VZP, which could redirect the funds spent on this treatment to patients whom it can still help.
The dashboard has been developed as a web application and utilises open data from onconet.cz and SÚKL. The prototype covers four diagnoses: C67 Bladder, C25 Pancreas, C34 Lung, C50 Breast. The solution is scalable to all types of cancer, as well as other diseases at the palliative stage of treatment, such as Parkinson’s disease or multiple sclerosis.
